God Has Been Working On Me...

fountains-of-hope

...about a number of different things; I am getting ready to move my business in early '12, I begin teaching a class on spiritual gifts in January, I am feeling compelled to tell a multi-billion dollar business that they need to change part of their direction, I have been asked to be on a Kairos Prison Ministry team, and it looks like through Fountains of Hope I will have an opportunity to go to Africa early next year as well. So yes, God has been working on me.

I'm in my early 50's and have finally, through the grace of God, been able to have a little breathing room in my business.

I have at times wondered, when I get to heaven, will I be able to see exactly what the best I could have possibly done in my life could have been. If I had made this or that choice differently and changed the trajectory of my life, how could I have achieved maximum potential? It's occurred to me here recently that Jesus is standing besides me while I am having this little daydream and chuckling, "Are you kidding Me? You have so far over achieved your potential because of My help it is ridiculous." So yes, God has been working on me.

girlsAnother place that God has richly blessed me is the opportunity to serve on the board of Fountains of Hope, and the thrill of being able to go on a number of short term mission trips. The chance to go to Africa early in 2012 has been something that has been on my heart for years. It is a long, expensive trip and there is a bunch of important things going on here at home, in my business as well as other ministry opportunities. So the timing is not necessarily perfect, but God has been working on me.

FoH has 4 different locations in Kenya and Tanzania that have requested water purification systems. One of the critical aspects of this trip will be the funding. It costs roughly $5000 per system plus another $5000 to fly into a remote area of Tanzania meaning we need to come up with $25,000 to make this trip a reality. My hope is that God is prompting 2 or 3 families to step up and donate $15,000 as seed (matching) money to help motivate others to contribute. For reasons that I can not explain (read Holy Spirit), I firmly believe this will happen. Then it will be up to another 40-50 folks to make $250-500 contributors to round out the balance. Again, I am prayerfully optimistic about this.

We are blessed to have many ministry partners in Africa and have identified reasonable transportation while we are in country through Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), a Christian organization. It also appears that we will be able to work with one or two of the partners who were on the first Haiti trip as food/medical/microfinance providers. This would add a much needed and desired facet to our trip into the African wilderness where these type of services are simply not available.

As 2011 winds down, I know that many of you will have funds to designate for end of year giving or are making giving decisions for 2012. First of all I covet your prayers. Secondly, I am asking that you would prayerfully consider making a tangible donation to Fountains of Hope and partner with us on this trip. God has been working on me ... has He been working on you too?
